Yorkshire Terrier Characteristics
Originally bred to catch rats in mills, the small, toy-size Yorkshire Terriers are hardwired to hunt and are brave and ready for adventure.
True to their terrier nature, Yorkies are curious, energetic and fun.
They are very intelligent, often with a big attitude in their small bodies.
Due to their affectionate and entertaining personality they make great companions for those living alone and good pets for families with older children, as long as kids are taught how to interact with them correctly.
They are happy to live with other dogs and cats as well if introduced correctly from a young age but should be watched around small pets as they love to chase.
Yorkies are alert and make excellent watchdogs. They enjoy time spent off the lead and playing games. Yorkshire Terriers have a beautiful, silky coat that requires regular grooming to keep it in top condition.
