Whippet Characteristics
Originally bred to pursue and capture small game, the Whippet have slender, streamlined body and sleek coat. It is similar to a small Greyhound and it is also called “poor man’s Greyhounds” as only the rich had Greyhounds and the poorer classes owned Whippets.
The muscular but elegant Whippets are known as lightning-fast sprinters.
Their friendly and patient disposition makes them good family pets, and they usually get along well with children and other dogs, although early socialization is necessary.
Gentle and affectionate, the Whippet enjoys cuddling and playing with their family.
This breed has a strong prey drive that makes Whippets unsuitable to homes with cats and unsuitable to walk off leash.
These graceful and sensitive dogs need plenty of exercise before love to stretch out and relax for long hours.
Whippets are quiet dogs who rarely bark and can live in an apartment as well.
