Test Results and Next Steps:
- A positive standard test (at least one marker not low susceptibility) requires further confirmation through serology, biopsy, or the extended test, which assigns a risk classification (high to very low).
- A negative standard test (both markers show low susceptibility) suggests a very low likelihood of coeliac disease (over 99% negative predictive value).
- A negative extended test is even more conclusive, effectively ruling out coeliac disease altogether.

Genetic Testing for Coeliac Disease is a Simple Process
Genetic Testing for Coeliac Disease does not require you to give a blood sample. Our test is carried out using the mouth swabs provided for you in our home sample collection kit. The test is quick and simple to administer, providing that you carefully adhere to the instructions and precautions provided.

It is important to note that the standard test is not diagnostic whilst the extended test can be considered diagnostic when the result is negative. Both tests tell you whether or not you carry the genes that can trigger coeliac disease. If your results (from the standard or from the extended test) show that you do carry these genes, this does not mean you currently have the disease, nor that you will necessarily develop it.
The clinical diagnosis of coeliac disease generally requires you to undergo a biopsy, which will help to reveal how damaged the intestinal walls have become, and whether the particular presentation of damage has been caused by coeliac disease.
Living with Coeliac Disease
The seriousness of coeliac disease depends on a number of factors. These include how long you have been suffering from it, how old you are and for how many years you have been eating gluten.
There is currently no cure and no drug therapy available to those suffering from coeliac disease. Instead, you will need to follow a strict gluten-free diet, as this is the only certain way to avoid damaging the small intestine mucosa. If you are diagnosed with coeliac disease, you will need to ensure your progress is carefully monitored by your GP or another healthcare provider.
