Redbone Coonhound Characteristics
The Redbone Coonhound is a friendly and loyal breed who make wonderful companion dogs. Like other types of hounds this breed is quite stubborn and are often difficult to train. They also tend to bark a lot so need to be in an environment where barking is acceptable.
Redbones also take about two years to reach full physical and mental maturity and require a lot of patience during their early years.
Due to their independent nature and excellent hunting skills Redbone Coonhounds should not be allowed to wander off leash and should be kept in a fully secure area if left outside unattended. They also enjoy an active lifestyle and are always eager to follow their nose.
