Anatolian Shepherd Dog Characteristics
Bred as a shepherd’s companion, Anatolian Sheperds have been used to protect livestock and farms against everything.
These Turkish working dogs have a muscular, impressive presence, combined with a sharp mind and independent personality. They have a short, fawn coat and a black mask.
They are very loyal, extremely protective and possessive.
Although they appear intimidating, and if necessary, they are, Anatolian Sheperds are calm and friendly with their family
This breed is suspicious of strangers and reserved with those outside their flock. For this reason, early socialisation and obedience training is very important.
These big herding dogs have energy and tons of stamina, so they need lots of space and daily exercise.
Anatolian Sheperds are highly trainable, but might not be the best choice for families with young children, due to their large size.
