Cairn Terrier Characteristics
The Cairn Terrier is a happy and active breed known for making friends wherever they go. They are extroverted and enjoy socializing with new people. Their warm nature makes them great family dogs. Because he is part of the Terrier group, the Cairn has an innate desire to dig, bark, and chase other dogs and small animals. Their great hunting instinct usually means that they do not fit in homes with other dogs or pets. It is recommended to socialize your Cairn Terrier with other animals from the time they are puppies to reduce these unwanted protective behaviours. Despite their small size, the Cairn Terrier is an athletic breed and physically and mentally stimulating activities suit them perfectly. They enjoy long walks, excursions, going for a run, and various dog sports such as agility or flyball. While they are a fairly energetic breed, they can live perfectly in an apartment.
