Norwegian Elkhound Characteristics
The Norsk Elghund is a very independent and sociable dog as well as brave, playful and calm. Due to his vigilant attitude, he plays the role of guardian very well, warning of any irregularity with his barking. Although he shows little submissiveness, he is a dog that learns quickly if he is trained firmly and consistently.
They are loyal and devoted to their families and make excellent companions. Elkhounds are known for their alertness and protective nature, which makes them good watchdogs. They are also generally good with children and can get along well with other pets if properly socialised from a young age. However, their hunting instincts can make them prone to chasing smaller animas, so caution should be exercised when introducing them to smaller pets.
Also, early socialisation is important to help them develop good manners and be comfortable in various situations.
Norwegian Elkhound Inherited Disease and Traits Testing Panels

If they are all included in the most comprehensive test called “DogCheck 4.0“, which also gives information about coat colour traits, the turnaround is 3-4 weeks from receipts of the samples to the laboratory. Please refer to the list below to see all the genes tested in this case.
