Papillon Characteristics

The Papillon, also called the Continental Toy Spaniel, is a breed of dog, of the spaniel type. This type of breed is kind, kind, friendly, playful and curious. They can also be calm, patient and gentle. They surrender completely to their owners, looking somewhat maliciously at strangers.

Papillons are generally outgoing, happy dogs that enjoy running around the house. Contrary to popular belief, these dogs are not lap dogs. However, they do love companionship and will always try to be where their humans are. If you are away from home for long hours of the day, this is not the breed for you!

Papillon Inherited Disease and Traits Testing Panels

  • Hyperuricosuria DNA Test for Uric Acid is a screening test for your dog to determine if it carries the mutated gene associated with Hyperuricosuria (HUU).
  • Von Willebrand (vWD) Type I, which is the most common inherited bleeding disorder in canines. There are three classifications of vWD: Types I, II and III that are based on the concentration and nature of plasma von Willebrand Factor.

For the above tests, if done singularly or as combos, we offer the results in 7-10 working days from receipt of samples to the laboratory.

If they are all included in the most comprehensive test called “DogCheck 4.0“, which also gives information about coat colour traits, the turnaround is 3-4 weeks from receipts of the samples to the laboratory. Please refer to the list below to see all the genes tested in this case.

NOTE: There is an extra cost of £45 to test the genes mentioned on the table as *xP as they are not included in the Dog Check 4.0 Report unless the extra fee has been paid at the checkout.

Dog Allergy Test Kit Review
We had our dog allergy tested with you last year. We were advised that it is not a good enough test by our vet and many others online. This however couldn't be more wrong. We used the results to remove foods from her diet and even hypo-allergenic shampoos etc. Since she turned 1 years old we had her allergy tested by blood at the vet to see if she had out grown any of these allergies. The results were exactly the same as we were given by yourselves. Everything in red she is still allergic to. Without your help I'm not sure how we would of been able to help her in her first year. Especially given that she is allergic to almost everything hypoallergenic.
