Shiba Inu Characteristics
The Shiba Inu is one of the oldest dogs still existing among the domestic breed dog population. As part of the Spitz family, the Shiba Inu has an energetic personality characterized by his stubbornness and possessiveness. They are guard dogs by nature and are territorial with their food, toys and family. Despite this, they are known to be excellent family dogs and do well in homes with children but are not recommended for homes with other pets.
Their personality is warm, and they are very affectionate, however, they have a high tendency to chase small animals and show signs of aggression towards other dogs. Because of his love of a good chase, the Shiba Inu needs obedience and leash training. It is not recommended to leave them loose, and houses with fenced yards are the most suitable.
The Shiba Inu needs a lot of daily exercise. They enjoy long walks, jogging, or even running alongside their owner’s bicycle.
